The garden is brilliant all year round with 200 species of rhododendrons blooming in the countryside of Phu Yen

Having settled in the US for more than 10 years, Ms. Xuan Huong has always had a passion for taking care of her garden. In that garden, she spends her time planting and caring for 200 types of rhododendrons that are always blooming brightly.
Ms. Xuan Huong (born in 1984) is currently a housewife, busy with taking care of the family. She was born and raised in the central coastal land, Phu Yen province. She has been living in the US for 10 years in San Diego CA, California. In addition to taking care of children and housework, she loves leisurely moments watching the garden and taking care of plants.

Xuan Huong was born and raised in Vietnam. Then she immigrated to America. Currently, she enjoys the housewife life, taking care of her family and unleashing her passion for all kinds of quince in her garden. Ms. Huong shared: “ Before, I planted a lot of flowers, I like to plant for fun because my house is quite large. At first, I did not grow Quynh but planted a variety of varieties such as roses, chrysanthemums… However, realizing that other flowers take a lot of time to care for, prune, and water daily, I decided to choose primrose, which is both easy to care for and blooms brilliantly. I usually focus on taking my kids to school, cooking, and spending more time with myself “. Previously, she also tried to grow many different types of flowers such as chrysanthemums, roses… However, most of the flowers she planted need a lot of time to take care of. Therefore, she has researched and chosen to plant varieties of rhododendrons, flowers that bloom brilliantly but don’t take much care. Her garden is therefore always lush and impressive. Initially, Ms. Huong planted a few varieties of rhododendrons and found this to be a suitable variety for warm climates. The tree also has many colors, flowers bloom beautifully, is durable and does not require much care. Up to now, Ms. Huong’s garden has more than 200 different types of Quynh. The more I grow, the more I love it, so I don’t stop buying more of my favorite varieties to plant. Among all types of Quynh, my favorite is Quynh sen (German Empress) because the flowers bloom for the longest time compared to other types of Quynh. Each flower can bloom for about 7 days while other types of rhododendrons only last 2-3 days. The color of the flowers is similar to that of Vietnam’s lotus bud, so every time Quynh blooms, she misses her hometown more. The characteristic of Quynh is that it likes light sunshine, under a sheltered place, little watering, dry soil. Quynh blooms can be fresh for up to 1 week, helping her garden always shine very impressively. One corner is placed a lot of potted rhododendrons with different varieties. Ms. Xuan Huong currently grows more than 200 types of quince in her garden. In her spare time, she still spends her time collecting different types of rhododendrons to plant in her garden. Flowers are also quite diverse in color. In her spare time, Ms. Huong often walks around the garden, with time on the weekend she will take advantage of watering more fertilizer. She often plans with a periodic irrigation schedule. On average, she fertilizes flowers once a month. In winter, she gives the plant a break without fertilizing. In the summer, she watered every 3-4 days, in the winter because it was cold, the plants kept moisture well, so she only watered once every 10 days. The owner of the garden shares the secret of flower care: “If I want flowers to bloom beautifully, I usually add bloom booster to promote more flowers. In terms of soil, I plant cactus soil or potting soil that is easy to drain. I don’t like to water a lot, if the soil is moist enough, the plant can grow well. “. Quynh is a flower that does not need much effort to fertilize, does not water a lot, sometimes adding fertilizer periodically is enough to enjoy the brilliant beauty of the flowers. In her free time, Xuan Huong often takes her children to the garden to take care of the sunflowers, learn about nature, and get closer to the trees. This is also the time when she feels happy, relaxed and loves her home and garden more. Thanks to these simple experiences, the garden of Ms. Xuan Huong’s family is always brilliant with all kinds of rhododendrons racing to bloom. I love every little corner of my garden.
