Inmate Pham Quang Linh, 22 years old, has been sentenced to 7 months in prison for disrupting public order. In the short term, Linh has nearly 3 years of sentence. “Today’s meal makes me miss home, mom cooked rice” – Linh said. This is the first time Linh eats a holiday meal in the detention center. Inmate Nguyen Van Thang welcomed the 9th Southern Liberation Day in the camp. He and his wife are both serving a prison sentence at Quyet Tien. Mr. Thang is preparing a beef dish with wine sauce for a holiday meal. “Seeing other people released, both happy and sad. There is another year, I will try to serve a good sentence to be able to return to my family soon.” Inmate Le Quang Minh has been sentenced to 6 years in prison. “Squash is one of the most favorite dishes in the camp” – Mr. Minh said. Prisoner Le Quang Minh belongs to the kitchen team of Division 3, Quyet Tien Detention Center. “We have the opportunity to cook food together, cook deliciously, and satisfy our mouths. That is very exciting” – Mr. Minh said. “The atmosphere here is somewhat like a family. The brothers serve each other and encourage each other to try. This meal also makes me less homesick” – inmate Pham Quang Linh, 22 years old shall. The meal is cooked by the hands of men who once made mistakes. In a year, there are 4 occasions when inmates are held to eat rice, Tet, they are: Lunar New Year, New Year’s Day, Southern Liberation Day, reunification and National Day. The food for the holiday meal was prepared one day in advance. As a rule, each inmate was given 17 kg of rice, 15 kg of green vegetables, 1 kg of pork, 1 kg of fish and many other spices / month.
