Research by TripAdvisor shows that vaccination greatly affects tourism demand and spending. 48% of people surveyed said they would wait for at least one dose of the vaccine before thinking about going out.
TripAdvisor has just published the results of its analysis of travel demand in some countries and on this website over the past year. The figures show that people who have been vaccinated are the most potential source of tourists today for the tourism industry. 32% of these have booked a vacation and 80% said that vaccines are the deciding factor for travel.

Meanwhile, unvaccinated people are unlikely to be ready for travel. Up to 48% of survey respondents said they would wait to receive at least one dose of the vaccine before thinking about going out. Only 19% of unvaccinated people have booked an upcoming holiday. Illustration. Vaccination helps tourists feel more confident in their travel experiences. 41% of vaccinated people said they feel more secure when dining indoors, 32% feel more confident when visiting an urban center, 25% feel more confident when visiting a museum, and 23 % more peace of mind when visiting an amusement park. Notably, vaccinated people tend to spend more on travel and take longer vacations. 30% of vaccinated people plan to travel longer than pre-pandemic trips, compared with 22% overall. In addition, 35% of vaccinated travelers are willing to spend more on their next trip, while only 20% of unvaccinated travelers will do so. The widespread vaccination has helped increase demand for travel and hotel bookings in many countries. According to TripAdvisor statistics, the number of hotel and restaurant searches in the US in May reached the highest level since the outbreak of the pandemic. Demand in the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany and France also saw significant growth. According to the survey, domestic travel is chosen by many people for this summer, while overseas trips are being planned at the end of the year. 75% of global June holiday searches are for domestic destinations, with 67% for July and 62% for August. The number of room searches at foreign hotels is increasing for the period after November this year.
