Unique all-green coffee shop from inexpensive ingredients in New York

Canadian designer duo Coryn Kempster and Julia Jamrozik designed a playful, youthful all-green cafe in a centuries-old building in Buffalo, New York. The Tipico cafe is a place that promotes social interactions and supports local craftsmanship. The furniture is inexpensive, the headlights are recycled from the string lights of the construction site. The cafe seats are inspired by university lecture halls. The cafe’s main bar is made up of ten recycled wooden tables purchased from the classifieds website Craigslist. The tables are stitched together and painted blue, forming a unified bar that runs along the cafe’s wall. The open bar has swivel chairs arranged around the customer-side protruding blue countertops allowing easy communication between customers and employees. Olive green furniture can be used indoors and outdoors. Olive green, the green of the trees and the blue of the restaurant are in harmony, creating a fun and impressive overall. “We wanted to use a vibrant color to visually tie the bar and bench together to create continuity in the space and create a visual accent for the bar,” says the designer.
