Built with inspiration from the curves of the ceramic land on the turntable, Bat Trang Pottery Museum is becoming one of the new places to visit Hanoi people. Bat Trang Pottery Museum is located in village 5, Bat Trang commune, Gia Lam district, Hanoi city, about 15km from the center of the capital, started construction in 2018 on an area of ​​3,700 m2. The work is part of the project “The elite center of Vietnamese craft villages” of Quang Vinh Ceramics Co., Ltd. and the Hanoi trade village association with the aim of developing craft villages. From the museum you can see the Bac Hung Hai canal on the opposite side. The museum has an investment of more than 150 billion dong, and is expected to be put into operation in June. The museum is created with seven giant spiral swirls inspired by ceramic-clawed turntables, with curving soft, free and intertwined multifaceted surfaces, forming a unique building. The structure of the Museum in the way grows upwards, but still creates a firm and solid stance. The work is inspired by the image of turntable blocks – a familiar and indispensable tool for the pottery villagers. In another perspective, this is like the image of a giant ancient pottery kiln of the ancient Bat Trang people. It is known that in order to make those seven unique swirls, the craftsmen had to use thin linear fiber reinforced concrete with a small load but could withstand the force effectively. At the same time, the project also makes the most of the village’s ancient materials such as traditional ceramic tiles, mosaic tiles and baked tile … to create the most authentic colors for the Museum … The showroom displays and sells ceramic products in the museum. The museum has three exhibition floors. The first floor is a place for artists to display their most valuable works, thereby connecting visitors with artisans. The first floor is also a suitable place for activities and big events about pottery. Besides, because the open space here is very large, it is very suitable for programs, big events or traditional cultural festivals … The 2nd and 3rd floor – the central area of ​​the Bat Trang Pottery Museum is the place to display artistic pottery products throughout the process of formation and development of Bat Trang pottery village, including the lines from ancient to modern, with the changes in color, shape and decorative motifs on pottery … help visitors have an overview of the history of the craft village. The top floor – the top floor is the place to see the scenery, with a space full of green trees. Not only that, this museum of Vietnamese pottery village also has an area for performing arts space, commercial area, culinary restaurants and guest rooms of experts, artists … In addition to the idea of ​​creating an exhibition displaying handicraft products of the craft village and a place to connect traditional handicrafts, this is also a place to honor the craftsmen. The museum is like a traditional house, which holds all the cultural values ​​of Bat Trang pottery village for visitors to visit, admire and enjoy. Although not officially put into operation, the museum has attracted many young people to visit because of its unique architecture. Duong Thi Nga (student from Hanoi University) shared: “I really like the unique architecture of this museum. The swirls are designed to grow upwards, creating the feeling of being lost in some majestic canyon. I will definitely be back in June ”.
