Villa Mon Repos is located on Corfu Island (Greece) where Prince Philip, spouse of Queen Elizabeth II, was born.

The building is located in the southern Greek city of Corfu. 
A sign at the entrance to Mon Repos mansion reads: “Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, born here in 1921”.

It is known that the Mon Repos mansion was originally built as a summer resting place for military officer Frederick Adam and his wife, Diamantina ‘Nina’ Palatino, in 1828-1831. 
However, they had to leave the mansion in 1832 after Frederick Adam was transferred to India. 
The Mon Repos mansion was sometimes used as a residence for later British Governors. 
In 1833, Mon Repos was used as an art school and in 1834 opened to the public. 
Queen Elisabeth of Austria stayed here in 1863. 
In 1864, the mansion was granted to King George I of Hellenes as a summer residence. King George I then changed the mansion’s name to Mon Repos.
