Several dragon boat riders fell into the water and one person was missing. The pictures in this article are all pictures of the WeChat official account of the Straits Metropolis Daily According to the relevant person in charge of the Fuzhou Red Cross Dawn Rescue Corps in Fujian Province, the rescue team received a notice from the police from Xingang Police Station in Taijiang District at about 2 pm on the day of the incident, asking them to cooperate in the rescue. At about 4 pm, the rescue team arrived at the scene. At that time, the dragon boat was submerged by the river, and the team members immediately started salvaging. Towards the evening, the rescue team first fished out the first half of the dragon boat, and it was not until 9 o’clock in the evening that the second half of the dragon boat was picked up. As for the cause of the sinking, the person in charge said that the dragon boat may collide when passing the sluice on the river surface, which caused a tragedy. At about 10 o’clock that night, after search and rescue by the Fujian Provincial Star Rescue Team and Fujian Shuguang Rescue Team, the missing persons had been salvaged ashore.

According to people familiar with the matter, the dragon boat team was organized by Xiamen University alumni. The deceased was a native of Fuzhou, Fujian. He was a young Chinese calligrapher and painter, a stone seal carver, an art designer, a senior Chinese music singer and composer, and a member of the Fujian Artists Association. He has won many national awards.

The location of the incident was near Guangming Bridge, because he was dressed in ancient costumes and did not wear a life jacket.

Currently, the police have been involved in the investigation.
