According to MacGeneration, Apple will transfer all data from iCloud Documents & Data to iCloud Drive storage from May 2022.
iCloud Documents & Data is a feature of storing and syncing application data between Apple devices. This feature predates iCloud Drive.
iCloud will ‘transform’ next year. According to the MacRumors , iCloud Documents & Data, and iCloud Drive can all back up and sync data in a number of apps. However, the weak point of iCloud Documents & Data is that there is no management app like iCloud Drive. Data transferred will not be included in the general capacity of iCloud, but users need to enable iCloud Drive to view and manage data. iCloud is one of the important features on iOS devices. This is not only a place to store data and photos safely and securely, but also a good choice to free up space on your Mac or iPhone. Starting in May 2022, Apple is working to minimize confusion and streamline different parts of iCloud Drive. Documents & Data service will stop working and all data in it will be transferred to iCloud Drive automatically. Ultimately, the difference users will notice is that they’ll be able to view and access this data directly in the Files app on iOS or Finder on Mac. However, while the conversion will take place automatically, viewing the data in iCloud Drive will not. Users will have to enable this feature separately.
