Disaster costumes in Oscar history

Before the 93rd Oscar, Marie Claire magazine reviewed the worst costumes in the history of the awards ceremony.

In 1974, Edy Williams became the focus of criticism for wearing a leopard bikini inside a spotted fur coat to join an Oscar. For many years later, the image of the American star was often repeated as a major minus point at the awards ceremony that year. Singer Cher proves an investment in hair, clothes, and accessories, but does not bring positive effects as expected. The offensive cut-out dress when combined with the redundant jacket and dark fur hat made her receive many disparaging comments. Choosing to mix & match the royal black dress with biker pants, hugging thighs, Demi Moore was criticized country and less charming. Many Hollywood newspapers commented that she was wearing pajamas on the red carpet in 1989. Marie Claire magazine describes Geena Davis as “a bride lost on the red carpet”. The rebellious wedding dress and punk dress style was inherently beautiful, but combined on one outfit turned into disaster inadvertently. Black socks do not fit well, also contribute to ruining the overall harmony. Whoopi Goldberg is in the top of the stars who wear bad clothes with a design that cannot be more confusing. The less subtle brocade pants do not match with the glossy gown outside. According to Marie Claire, this is a product from the Givenchy fashion house. The fashion house Lizzy Gardiner wore dresses made from 254 expired American Express yellow cards to Oscar 1995. That year, she was honored in the category of Best Costume Design for The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. But ironically, the outfit that she accepted the award was put on the worst list. Artist Björk Guðmundsdóttir wears a “tumble of death” attire that is attached from the collar to the bottom of the skirt. Marjan Pejoski – the creator of this design – has been criticized for his poor level with the thin shirting style that reveals the inside of Guðmundsdóttir. Her hair is drooping and not in line, making the Icelandic star lose points on the red carpet in 2001. Sally Kirkland’s colorful design with shoddy fabric was scoffed at for ideas in the circus. Pursuing sexy direction but constantly abusing penetrating costumes also makes the actress lose points in the eyes of the grave.
