The remaining name in the top 3 is still Apple’s mobile device. iPhone 12 Pro ranks right behind with 3% of smartphone market share worldwide in the first quarter of 2021. The Cupertino giant’s victory is not complete because the iPhone 12 mini is not in the top 10. Instead, the iPhone 11 launched in 2019 still holds the 4th position with 2% market share. Counterpoint Research Apple’s success comes from high demand for 5G smartphones, and at the same time, the pandemic situation in 2020 also causes users to postpone buying new phones until early this year. The remaining positions in the top 10 belong to Android devices from Samsung and Xiaomi. In particular, the brand from China holds the 5th and 6th positions with the Redmi 9A and Redmi 9 duo. The other Xiaomi phone on this list is the Redmi Note 9 (8th). The majority of its sales come from the Chinese, Indian and Southeast Asian markets. Samsung has 3 representatives according to statistics of Counterpoint Research, including Galaxy A12, A21s and A31, ranked 7th, 9th and 10th respectively. In terms of revenue, Apple is still dominant in the top 10, but there is a disturbance in rankings. Accordingly, iPhone 12 Pro Max leads with 12% of world phone market revenue in the first quarter of 2021. The next positions are iPhone 12 (11%), iPhone 12 Pro (9%) and iPhone 11 (3%). Two other Apple phone lines also on the list are iPhone 12 mini (6th) and iPhone SE 2020 (10th). Samsung holds 3 positions in the smartphone rankings based on revenue. Including Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (5th), S21 5G (6th) and S21 Plus 5G (9th). The Mate 40 Pro unexpectedly ranks 8th on the list. This is an impressive result because Huawei’s flagship is mainly sold in the Chinese market. According to the Counterpoint Research , the success of high-end smartphones has helped global revenue in the first quarter of 2021 reach more than 100 billion USD. Except for the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE, most of the rest comes from 5G phones. This shows that the new connection is gradually becoming the preferred standard of choice for users. Why does Apple produce more and more iPhone models? After the production of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C caused a lot of impact, Apple began to produce many iPhone models to compete with high-end Android smartphones.
