This construction method is environmentally friendly. TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) works on the principle of soil pressure balance. Behind the digging shield is arranged a closed partition. The soil from the excavated shield will fall into the space and create a pressure balance between the excavated soil and the unearthed soil, making the digging mirror stable and not landslides. The soil pressure in the balance chamber is monitored by sensors placed directly in it.
