According to the news on the official website of Harbin Engineering University (“Harbin Engineering”) on June 15th: According to the decision of the Party Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Comrade Yin Jingwei was appointed as the Standing Committee Member and Vice President of the Harbin Engineering University Party Committee. The term of office will be calculated from May 25, 2021. .

According to the official resume, Yin Jingwei, male, Han nationality, born in February 1980, Heilongjiang Shangzhi, member of the Communist Party of China, professor, PhD supervisor, joined the Communist Party of China in July 2002, and stayed as a teacher after graduating from Harbin Engineering University in June 2006. He has successively served as the Secretary of the Youth League Committee and Deputy Minister of the Student Affairs Department of Harbin Engineering School, the executive deputy director of the “2011 Plan” Office, the executive deputy dean of Harbin Engineering College of Hydroacoustic Engineering (at the director level), the dean of Harbin Engineering College of Hydroacoustic Engineering, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.

In November 2019, Yin Jingwei became the dean of the Harbin Institute of Engineering Science and Technology. He is currently also the head of the Harbin Engineering “Underwater Acoustic Communication and Positioning Technology” national defense technology innovation team and the director of the Key Laboratory of Marine Information Acquisition and Security of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The predecessor of Harbin Engineering University was the Military Engineering College of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (“Harbin Military Industry”) founded in 1953. In 1970, based on some cadres and teachers of the Department of Naval Engineering and other departments (departments), the Harbin Institute of Shipbuilding Engineering was established on the original site of the “Harbin Military Industry”. In 1994, it was renamed Harbin Engineering University. The school is now subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, Heilongjiang Province, and Harbin City.

Harbin Engineering University entered the ranks of the national “double first-class” construction in 2017. It is an important talent training and scientific research base in the field of the country’s “three seas and one nuclear” (shipbuilding industry, naval equipment, marine development, and nuclear energy applications).
