Samsung’s latest smartwatch will use Google’s operating system instead of Tizen as previous generations.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 are expected to launch this summer with Google’s Wear OS instead of the self-developed Tizen.

Nils Ahrensmeier recently revealed that Samsung is planning some change in the size of its next wearable devices. The Galaxy Watch 4 will measure 42mm and 46mm, both of which are slightly larger than the current 41mm and 45mm models. With the new dimensions, the Galaxy Watch 4 will have a larger battery – 350 mAh, while the 42 mm version will have a 240 mAh battery. The Galaxy Watch Active 4 sports version, which looks like it will come in two 40mm and 42mm models. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 is currently sold in 40mm and 44mm sizes. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Watch Active 4 will be 40 and 42 mm in size. The largest version of Watch Active 4 is 2 mm smaller than the largest version of Watch Active 2. The other version is unchanged. In addition, rumors previously suggest that the Galaxy Watch 4 will have a feature to measure blood glucose or oxygen levels in the blood in addition to measuring heart rate and conventional electrocardiogram. Both new Samsung smartwatch lines can be launched at the Unpacked event this July, with two Samsung folding smartphones – Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.
