My son is going to school. Husband goes to work. Today I am at home baking alone. I invited my neighbor’s sister to cook the cake. We happily told each other memories of our eager childhoods to cook cakes with our parents on real Korean New Year.

I lived away from my family since I was young, so on holidays, Tet like this, I miss my parents very much.

Every year I do not make cakes because I see few people and do not want to provoke. But this year my son is 2 years old, he loves floating cakes, especially the colorful five-color cake. In the afternoon of my son, I want to make cakes for him to eat on this day to give the family more atmosphere.

After finishing the cake, I prepare to cook the water to boil.

Wait for the water to boil, I drop each cake in and use the chopsticks to gently stir the water to make the cake evenly cooked.

I continue to boil it so that the cake is cooked evenly, just fine to avoid the cake being crushed and the sugar inside has not melted yet.

When the cake floats, I wait for another 30 seconds, and when it’s just cooked, I take it out.

Here are my results. I have prepared plates of cute cats, avocados … for boys to enjoy more.

Wait for the cake to cool down, I sprinkle more sesame on the surface for decoration.

I put the cake on the altar to worship the family. Add a week of incense, I sincerely pray. I hope that my son will eat well, grow up quickly, and my wife and I work smoothly, and the family is healthy and safe.

I also do not forget to take pictures with colorful cake plates to send to my parents in my hometown and keep as souvenirs.
