Some improper storage methods will cause fruits and vegetables to become spoiled and lose nutrients easily.

The refrigerator is considered to be the ideal place to store a large amount of vegetables and fruits safely. But some improper storage methods make fruits and vegetables more susceptible to deterioration and loss of nutrients.
1. Wash before refrigerating
Many women have the habit of picking up and thoroughly washing all kinds of vegetables and fruits and then storing them in the refrigerator for easy access, saving time for preliminary processing. However, a general rule of thumb is to refrain from washing fruits and vegetables before storing them in the refrigerator. We should only wash it when preparing for processing.
The reason is that the previous cleaning will increase the moisture on the surface, easily cause mold, stimulate bacteria to grow, so it will quickly spoil vegetables. It is better to leave it as it is after buying it, then refrigerate it. Should only be washed before preparing or eating it raw.
2. Refrigerate everything
In fact, not all fruits and vegetables need to be refrigerated. Some varieties, if refrigerated, can even lose their appetite.
For example, tomatoes, slightly cold in the refrigerator will inhibit the speed of ripening. Or watermelon in the refrigerator can easily lose antioxidants and some other nutrients. Onions can become tender and even moldy if left in the refrigerator for a long time.
3. Do not classify vegetables
Again, a bad habit can lead to a “chain reaction” that causes whole vegetables to deteriorate or lose their nutrients. In addition, a fruit can produce ethylene (which stimulates the ripening process of the fruit), so if placed near some other fruits and vegetables it can spoil them quickly.
4. No more space
Stacking too many vegetables in a layered fashion, piling the bags in the refrigerator is not really good. In addition, too long should not be stored because depending on the type of vegetables, there is a different storage time.
To ensure the nutrition of fruits and vegetables, when taking them out of the refrigerator, they need to be processed immediately, and should not be left for long in the outside environment. It is not beneficial to put the vegetables out for a while, if they do not reuse them, and put them in the refrigerator.
